Recycling roads

When we run out of oil, motoring will, to a large extent, cease. What happens to all the roads we’ve built? Do we rip them up? If so, what do we do with the rubble? After all, without oil-powered machinery, construction will become more difficult – or ‘traditional’ – and we won’t need rubble and hardcore so much. Will we have concrete mountains to join our plastic mountains? And why ARE we building more roads?
