Classic Summer Madness

What better antidote to the wretched Olympics than footling around beautiful Norfolk countryside and churches in a magnificent motorcade of classic cars?  Today (4th August) was the annual Norfolk Ecclesiastical Car Rally, the opening ceremony of Open Churches week.

The cars met, as usual, in Norwich Cathedral Close, and the drivers were treated to coffee, a blessing from the Bishop and a witty prayer from the ‘Daimler Dean’ of the Cathedral.

The route, as ever, was lovely – meandering through Norfolk lanes to spectacular churches (and one brewery).

This is such a great tradition that it’s hard to think it’s only a few years old.

A thousand years of British engineering – cathedral and cars.
