At last – something worth reading in the Sussex Express. I did like this letter.
“I was really pleased that the district council recently introduced cardboard recycling to Lewes and thrilled when my neat little bag turned up; possibly made from reclaimed hemp? This bag will sit nicely next to the other small boxes and bags we already have for recycling. Not for us the gaudy practicality of large, weather-proof wheelie bins – favoured by our neighbouring authorities. I for one enjoy my recycling, spilling out over the tiny containers for the neighbours to see. They probably think we survive on a diet of wine, beer and spaghetti hoops.
Unless your household is made up of one small adult and a pet mouse, getting your recycling into the provided containers can be a bit of a challenge, but I will do my best to squeeze and tear the cardboard into the bag as instructed. Well done Lewes District Council!
Latifa Dean, Lewes.”
