Last night’s PM featured a report by Michael Buchanan on the EU’s Habitats Directive and its negative impact on our economy. Bernard Jenkin was given prominence, slating the EU and saying that we looked after our wildlife perfectly well, thank you very much, and didn’t need the EU to tell us not to build in special habitats etc.
The report was biased in favour of Jenkin’s point of view – probably because the BBC has an obsession, like politicians, with ‘the economy’.
When will we realise that a) we’re not the only species in this country; b) without a diversity of species, we won’t survive; c) our economy is unsustainable and really needs to be changed.
BBC and Bernard Jenkin, will you please grow up?
